My wife and me are in shock over this root we planted not being a ginger plant. We had ginger growing on its own for a few years not. It would disappear and then come back sprouting up again.

We found this small pea sized root after digging up the garden and decided to plant it in our front yard’s planter. Now this popped up and we have no clue what it is. It almost looks like a potato plant which we grow too but the leaves look slightly different on this one. The root looked more like a piece of ginger though.

What is this?

My pinecone ginger plants seem to take about a solid month of warm tempatures and rain before they sprout.
